Bright Steps Devon CIC is commited to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk.  Safegaurding is embedded across all aspects of our provision.  We are commited to creating safe, supportive, and structured enviroenments where individuals can engage, and achieve positive outcomes.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility

We take all safeguarding concerns seriously and act on them without delay to ensure the safety, well-being and protection of everyone we work with.

Our Approach to Safeguarding

We operate clear and robust safeguarding procedures to ensure that any concerns are identified, recorded, and responded to appropriately.

  • Ongoing monitoring and review
  • Working in partnership with relevant professionals

 

Statutory Guidance and Frameworks

Bright Steps operates in line with current safeguarding legislation and best practise guidance, including:

  • Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE)
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children
  • The Principles of the Care Act 2014 relating to Adults at risk

This ensures that safeguarding arrangements are consistent with local authority expectations and national standards

 

DSL - Designated Safeguarding Lead 

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is in place and is responsible for overseeing or safeguarding matters.

 

The DSL ensures that concerns relating to children, young people, or adults at risk are managed appropriately, recorded accurately, and escalated where required.

Safer Recruiting

We follow safer recruitment practices to ensure all staff of volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people, and adults at risk.

 

  • Enhanced DBS checks (including barred list where appropriate)
  • Verification of identity and qualifications
  • Appropriate references
  • Ongoing safeguarding awareness

 

All concerns will be treated seriously and responded to appropriately

Staff Training and Responsibilities

All staff:

  • Receive safeguarding training
  • Understand their responsibilities to identify and report concerns
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries

 

Safeguarding is shared responsibility across the organisation.

 

Safeguarding in Community settings

Our provision is often delivered in community based environments

 

All delivery is risk assessed to ensure

  • Safe and suitable locations
  • Appropriate supervision
  • Clear safeguarding oversight
  • Safe working practises at all times

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to a child, young person, or adult at risk, please contact us immediately.

Policies and Procedures

All Safeguarding and related policies are in place and available upon request.

 

These are regularly reviewed to ensure alignment with current legislation, best practise, and Local Authority expectations.

  • Other professionals

to ensure safeguarding is coordinated, consistent, and effective.

 

Information is shared appropriately to support the safety and well being of those we work with, in a line with safeguarding and data rotection requirements.
