About Bright Steps Devon CIC

About Us

Supporting young people through structured, relationship-led provision that delivers meaningful outcomes.

Bright Steps Devon CIC is a community-focused organisation dedicated to supporting young people aged 8–25 as they grow, learn, and find their place in the world. We provide experienced mentors who build genuine, trusting relationships, helping young people develop practical skills, emotional resilience, and self-belief.

By creating small, supportive groups and offering one-to-one guidance, we give young people a safe space to connect, share their interests, and explore new opportunities. We also recognise the vital role of families, which is why we offer support for parents and carers, ensuring no one feels alone on their journey.

Alongside mentoring, our team includes qualified teachers who deliver tailored educational support. This includes structured alternative provision for young people who may not be able to access or thrive in mainstream education, offering flexible, personalised learning pathways that re-engage them with education and support positive outcomes.

We also deliver holiday provision programmes, providing safe, engaging activities during school holidays. These sessions combine social development, life skills, and enjoyable experiences, helping young people maintain routine, build friendships, and continue progressing outside of term time.

We understand that parents and carers of individuals with additional needs often experience the daily stresses and challenges of providing support. Our team is here to offer guidance and practical help with paperwork, funding applications, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) applications, and general advice to ensure you receive the right support at the right time.

At Bright Steps, every young person is valued, understood, and encouraged to take positive steps toward a future filled with hope and possibility.

We work with a range of funding routes, including commissioned placements, local authority support, grants, and direct payments. We are committed to keeping our provision accessible and can support families and partners in identifying and securing appropriate funding options

Our vision

At Bright Steps Devon CIC, our vision is a community where every young person feels supported, valued, and inspired to achieve their full potential. We believe in breaking down barriers, nurturing confidence, and creating opportunities that empower young people to thrive in education, relationships, and life.

We see a future where young people facing challenges are not defined by them, but are given the tools, encouragement, and guidance to turn those challenges into stepping stones. By working alongside families, schools, and communities, we aim to build a brighter, more inclusive future—one step at a time.

What we believe

At Bright Steps Devon CIC, we believe every young person deserves the chance to shine. Our mission is to walk alongside young people as they navigate life’s challenges, offering the guidance, encouragement, and skills they need to grow in confidence and resilience. Through mentoring, support, and shared experiences, we help young people discover their strengths, build lasting connections, and take positive steps toward a brighter future.
